DAY 10:
Tuesday, Last Day of Term 1, Summer, UBrite Drake Hall, Sunny and Hot
Hailee felt much better today. She had done some more studying this morning, and she felt ready. She decided to do the same as she did yesterday and leave an offering at the statue. And it worked, she was focused again.
She was early for her exam, and sat on the bench going over some last-minute notes.
This was it! The last two classes of Term 1. Hailee was feeling great as she strode to class.
Hailee’s new motivational book gave her $6 simoleons in royalties.
Hailee got these pop-ups after each class. What? Her second course, Evidence in Debate Prep, didn’t get the same remark. Oh, that’s not good.
Well, whatever happened in those classes, it’s all over now. But Hailee does look rather confident when she comes out. So maybe there’s still hope. Now she just has to wait until the grades are posted. I wonder how long that will take.
Hailee is kind of lost as to what to do with herself. She’s done Term 1, so right now, she has nothing to do. So, she gets on her bike and rides around campus for a bit.
As she’s riding by the stadium she glances at a small house on the right-hand side. There’s a plaque on the wall designating it as a UBrite dorm. It’s so pretty. How come she never noticed this house before? She used her phone and googled UBrite’s housing page and read more about the property, which was called Darkwing House. It had spots for four students and even had a small kitchen in the house. And although she loved living at Drake Hall, she had talked to a few of her roomies and they told her they were going to be living elsewhere for Term 2. She would keep this residence in mind when the time came to choose her housing.
Hailee remembered that there was a debate practice for the Debate Guild at UBrite Commons, and since she had nothing else to do, she headed over there. She saw Jean Lauer, her roomie, and challenged him to a debate, “Are Cowplants Cows or Plants?” Hailee didn’t really know what a cowplant was, but she somehow won the debate.
Author’s Notes: I may have imagined this, but I think that she was awarded some simoleons for winning. Possibly $1K+. Maybe you have to win a debate during the Debate Practice to get some simoleons. I know you can get simoleons during the Debate Showdown if you win, but didn’t know she could get some during a regular debate practice meeting. I will have to try this again to be sure.
And almost at the same time that she wins the debate, her grades come in! Oh my gosh! She did it! A+ for all courses! Bravo Hailee! I think I am as excited as she is. And so, she continues in the challenge. Yes!
I click off the grades, and another screen comes up. Oh my gosh! She has to enroll right away or lose any scholarships she has. Well, Hailee, let’s enroll you in Term 2.
I have Hailee enroll in 3 Core courses and 1 Elective, similar to Term 1. She liked to fish, so I had her sign up for Reeling Techniques for Fish as an Elective.
And even though it was a bit more expensive, Hailee decided that she was going to move to Darkwing House. It looked so nice and the thought of just having 3 other roomies appealed to her. Plus having a kitchen would be a perk, too.
And of course, she had to take out a student loan, but she still had her scholarship.
Hailee had applied for some other scholarships but hadn’t heard the results yet. I still can’t figure out those merit scholarships and why she didn’t get anything for them.
Hailee heads back to Drake Hall to pack up her belongings. When she gets there, this pop-up appears. “Moving Out” is an event and lasts four hours; however, you can cancel it at any time, and it will then transport you to your new university housing.
Hailee headed to her room to pack up. Oh, gee! Look at the place! It was a mess. She hoped she would have neater roomies at the new residence.
Most of her roomies had already moved out. The place looked bare. But what was that on the floor? Hailee picked it up and read it
Maybe she shouldn’t have read that note because Hailee gets quite upset about it. Was that note addressed to Jean Lauer? Who would write such a note? She thought she knew all her roomies, but obviously, she didn’t. Sheesh!
She heard some voices in the study room and went to see who it was. There was a new student sitting there with Liberty. And there was Ritvik! He was moving, too, to a house near Lauer Library. Gosh! Hailee was going to miss them all.
After having a last look around, Hailee headed over to her new residence at 10pm!
And here she was. A new residence. A new term. And a chance for even more success at UBrite.
Darkwing House had two floors. There was one shared bedroom downstairs. (Look! Another roomie is moving in!) A bathroom with a shower, a tv room, a small kitchen, and an eating area/sitting room. There was also a small study with a computer at the front of the building.
Upstairs was a shared bedroom, a closet and a bathroom with a tub. She loved the house! She thought that one of the upstairs beds would be perfect, especially since she had a desk to use in that bedroom.
Hailee chose the yellow bed and unpacked her items and put up some posters on the wall. She also unpacked some gifts she had received, a lamp from Ritvik, and some cacti pots from Candice. Krishna had also given her a set of her own condiments, which she was hoping to put in the kitchen. Her room looked pretty cozy.
She didn’t know who she was sharing a room with. She had only seen one of her new roomies briefly and they had disappeared into their room. Maybe the others were moving in tomorrow.
Hailee came downstairs and went out the back door. There was even a little patio there. There were no garden planters, but she thought that perhaps she could just plant some seeds in the soil around the patio. And in fact, she did.
Hailee then headed inside to take a look at her schedule. Would classes just start tomorrow (Wednesday), or did she have a day in-between?
Hailee’s Term 2 Class Schedule:
M-W-F:
- 11:00 am – 12:25 pm – Reeling Techniques For Fish (final exam)
- 1:30 pm – 2:55 pm – Understanding Statistical Data (final exam)
- 3:00 pm – 4:25 pm – Fakers: Tracking Trust Online (final exam)
T-TH:
- 3:00 pm – 4:25 pm – Reading and Writing Laws (term paper)
Hailee did a double-take of her class schedule. She had 3 classes on the same day! Oh my gosh! Three final exams and one term paper. Thank goodness no presentations this term because they took forever. Well, if classes start tomorrow, she better get working on her homework. Oh, gee, homework for three classes. It was going to be a long night!
Suddenly she missed Drake Hall. She missed someone being up at all hours to talk to, she missed the culinary arts students making lobster thermidor for everyone, she missed Tia practicing her violin at odd hours, and yes, she even missed that darn open shower. There was always something going on in that dorm. Maybe she had made a mistake moving here.
And suddenly there was a knock on the door and in walked Ritvik and Monica, and behind them was Candice riding her bike into the house. They thought they would come over and do homework together. Ritvik, of course, made himself right at home and cooked something (he could cook?), Monica wanted to see her room, and Candice was just awed by the whole house, especially the “real” pictures on the wall.
Hailee smiled. Maybe it wasn’t Drake Hall that she missed. Maybe Hailee just missed her friends. And with them being here, it just felt like old times.

Author’s Notes:
Hailee’s traits at the end of Term 1. She has $2,553 simoleons.
Moving Out Event
As you know, you can’t go into build mode to change anything in university housing if your sim is living there. However, all those posters, lamps, plants and other university decorations in other students’ rooms, can just be dragged into your sims personal inventory. Yes, they can. Not just your sims things, but the other roomies’ things, too. So, ummm…before Hailee moved out, anything that was left in some of the rooms by her other roomies was “dragged” into her own inventory. No, she didn’t “borrow” them…they were…um…gifted to her. Yes, I really think the other students left those items behind to give as a gift to Hailee, don’t you think? Maybe she can sell the items and get herself a computer! Wouldn’t that be nice? No judging now, she did start with zero simoleons, and those darn uni computers that you can buy at the university kiosk are $4,250 simoleons. So, yes, she gots lots of gifts from the other students.
