DAY 8:

Sunday morning, First Day of Summer, UBrite Drake Hall, Warm and Cloudy

Hailee gets up and admires her posters before she heads into the bathroom to get ready for work. There are a few Organization Events happening today, but Hailee figures her time should be spent doing homework and studying. I mean, she has two final exams tomorrow and she hasn’t spent any time studying for them.

Hailee gets a promotion at work! Yes! But to get her next promotion, she has to do some gardening or study gardening. Where could she do some gardening? She didn’t see any planter boxes at UBrite Commons. Hmmm…that meant more studying. Oh, gee!

Hailee sees her roomie, Krishna, pass by with a whole chicken on his plate. Wow! He has quite an appetite! In fact, Hailee is a bit hungry, too.

Thankfully, there is a lot of food around, although most of it is spoiled. But her roomie, Sharon Kraft has just made another roast chicken. Sharon is in the culinary arts degree and likes to cook. Too bad nobody likes to clean in this dorm.

Hailee decides to have some lunch with her roomies. She talks to them about possibly starting a study group to study for finals. They think that’s a great idea. They decide to meet later at Lauer Library.

Author’s Notes: Using the Get Together expansion pack club feature, I create a study group for Hailee with some of her roomies.

After showering and changing clothes, Hailee heads to the University kiosk in front of UBrite Commons. She decides to buy her Communications university course book for $700 simoleons. Yes, a pretty steep price, but she is going to put in her “all” for her courses.

Oh no! Hailee sees that the UBrite statue has been toilet-papered. She is sad, her UBrite pride is tarnished. She cleans it up. She knows what she has to do. Some sim from Foxbury keeps doing this to their statue. It’s time to do something to the Foxbury statue.

Packing some “prank” supplies, Hailee heads to the Foxbury campus.

The Foxbury campus is vast, with multi-leveled stairs. And look at that huge parking garage on the left-hand side. The campus isn’t very bike-friendly, but that’s ok, Hailee can jog and walk around campus.

When Hailee gets to the campus, she heads to the field that has the Foxbury statue. But, what’s this? The field isn’t empty. There is some Util-Bot Contest being held by the Bot Savant Organization. Well, she certainly can’t prank the Foxbury statue with all these sims around.

But the contest looks rather cool with all these robot droids flying around. She wondered if her friend Cameron Fletcher was among the competitors.

Hailee headed to the field and saw a robot and found out his name was Servo. She wondered who had built him.

Hailee introduced herself to Servo and he became quite mean to her for no apparent reason. I mean really, she just asked him if he could swim and he was quite offended by her question. Sheesh! Servos have such sensitive egos.

Well, since Hailee couldn’t prank the Foxbury statue, she decided to leave the contest area and explore Foxbury campus a bit.

After climbing several stairs (she could really keep in shape here), she jogged down to the area behind Larry’s Lagoon, otherwise known as the Foxbury Commons.

To the left of picnic area, she spied a rock to collect.

Another sand spit area with a “swimmable” lake. There was also some fishing here. She noticed some flowers along the water’s edge, daisy, rose, snapdragon, and chrysanthemum, but none were in bloom, so she couldn’t harvest any.

It’s a beautiful day and Hailee tries her hand at fishing. And she actually catches something. Hailee likes this fishing spot, even though it’s at the rival’s campus.

And there was another rock to collect.

Well, there was nothing like a trash can to find the best stuff. Oh, and there was the Foxbury stadium. Didn’t she have to do something to it for the UBrite Spirit Corps? Now she remembered, she had to put up UBrite banners on their stadium. Well, luckily, she had brought some of them along with her.

So, Hailee headed to the stadium to do the prank. It was pretty quiet on campus, and sims were probably studying or at that Util-Bot Contest anyway. She thought this would be the perfect time to do it. She looked both ways…no-one around.

And just as she was hanging the first banner…Busted! And by the Foxbury mascot, Larry Lobster, of all sims! Where did you come from? Hailee mumbled something about these being the wrong banners and quickly rode off on her bike. But she was mad! She had come to Foxbury campus and hadn’t succeeded in either UBrite Spirit Corps task. She would probably have to try again in the wee hours of the morning. Ah shucks!

Hailee had wasted time at Foxbury campus when she should have been focussing on her exams tomorrow. And she still had homework to do! How was she going to get it all done? Well, thank goodness, her study group was meeting at the library, which is where Hailee headed next.

Everyone arrived at the same time, and they all worked hard on their homework together.

Hailee finished her homework in record time, and took out the huge Communications coursebook and started studying for her Communication Basics exam.

She then starts studying for her Sourcing Data: Intro to Journalism exam.

The study group ended, but Hailee was feeling rather energized from all that studying, so she decided to write a motivational book. It can only help her Journalism course, right?

And by the time she was finished, it’s 2am! What was she thinking? She has an exam in a few hours. In fact, two exams back-to-back. Oh my gosh! She has to get to bed!

But when she gets back to the dorm, she just takes out her Communications course book again and studies some more. What are you doing Hailee? Get some sleep! Oh, why did she go to Foxbury today? Hailee is really starting to worry about those exams.

Author’s Notes:

I actually had Hailee go to Foxbury campus to find some collectibles and didn’t realize that the Util-Bot contest was going on. It was kind of fun to watch. However, Hailee may have spent too much time at Foxbury and not enough time on her coursework. When you “study” from the coursebook, it doesn’t tell you that you are done studying. She got the pop-up of “Well-prepared” for her Communication Basics course, but it didn’t come up for her Journalism course. Does that mean she didn’t study enough for her Journalism course?

There is a youtube video that I was watching (after I played this day), on How Your Sim Can Get an A in University The video suggests that your sim study at least twice for a final exam. If that’s the case, poor Hailee is doomed. Now I am worried. Let’s hope her exams go well tomorrow.

DAY 7:

Saturday morning, Spring, UBrite Drake Hall, Cloudy and Warm

With very little sleep, Hailee is up getting ready for work.

The only other sim who is up is that hunky roomie she was going to share a room with at first. She realizes that he’s the only roomie that she hasn’t really talked to. His name is Krishna Venkataraman. Who would have thought that a hunky guy like this was a genius?

Author’s Note: Isn’t there a Director in Del Sol Valley named Vivaan Venkataraman? Maybe this is his son.

Hailee would have liked to talk more, but, she had to head off to work. Here she is in her work uniform all ready to mow those lawns and make some simoleons.

While she is at work, she gets these two pop-ups. Ahhh… Hailee, so sorry about you losing the record label with Dinky Beats. My bad because I didn’t have you travel there. Maybe when you graduate, you’ll have time to do that. There’s just too much to do on campus to keep traveling to Del Sol Valley all the time.

And her earnings for the day! Great job, Hailee! It’s already past noon when she arrives back and her hunger and hygiene needs are in the red. But, she wants to attend that Debate Showdown. It goes until 2pm, so maybe she can make it.

Hailee sees Becca Clarke and some of the other Debate Guild members.

She lets the judges know that she wants to participate in the Debate Showdown and they have her change into a debate blazer. But, two other team members are heading up to the podium. Maybe she is too late.

And this seems to be the last debate for the day. Too bad. Maybe next week she’ll take a vacation day from her job so she can participate.

She decides that since she’s out and about that she was going to do some organization tasks. She puts up some banners on the stadium for the UBrite Spirit Corps.

And Hailee decides she’s going to discover the campus a bit. Plus, it’s a beautiful day to ride her bike and maybe she’ll find some collectibles.

She spies something on the grass across the street from the stadium. She gets off her bike to collect it.

She takes the road to the right of the stadium, and there on her right-hand side, she sees a small sand spit area. She gets off her bike to explore and sees a rock which she collects.

No fishing spots, though, but the water does look really wonderful. Maybe when it’s warmer, she can go for a swim here.

Author’s Notes: There are a few “swimmable” places, and this is one of them on the UBrite campus-side.

But, of course, we know where she finds the best collectibles. Yep, dumpster diving again.

The last one she finds is just across from UBrite Commons near the coffee kiosk stand. There is also the rose bush behind UBrite Commons. But that seems to be it. Not a lot.

There is a soccer game tonight and Hailee sees some of the UBrite Spirit Corps heading to the game. She’d love to go, too, but it costs $45 simoleons to attend the soccer game.

So Hailee heads to UBrite Commons instead and washes up and grabs some dinner. The poor girl was starving as she hadn’t eaten any lunch. Free dinner choices included herb-crusted salmon, salad or a chocolate chip cookie. Hailee chose something healthy, a salad. She sat at a table with some other sims, but they were all very busy doing homework or working on term papers.

Hailee remembered that she still had that presentation to finish. What was she talking about? She had barely even started it. She changed out of her debate clothes and started to gather information to place on her board.

UBrite Commons suddenly became quite busy. Hailee got a pop-up that it was a University Mixer Night at the Commons. No wonder all these sims showed up.

And the game must be over. She wondered who had won. Hailee finished her board and thought she would do a practice run of her presentation.

Wow! Hailee couldn’t believe that all these sims were actually listening to her presentation. It must be really good.

Krishna, her roomie, had been standing in front listening intently. Hailee decided to ask for some feedback. He was a genius afterall. Oh gosh, Krishna told her that her presentation board needed work, but gave her some good pointers. Ah shucks! She thought it was good, but, no, it’s back to the drawing board for Hailee.

Hailee looked at her board again and she had to agree with Krishna that the presentation still needed some work. She changed things and added some more photos. Oh and maybe a graph. That would work…

And soon Hailee had her finished product. Gosh, it looked great! Hailee was confident that her professor would definitely think this was a worthy presentation. She certainly hoped so.

Her professor for her How Culture Influences Society course had told them that they could submit their presentation anytime during the week from 8am – 4:30pm. She only had two choices left as Term 1 ended on Tuesday. So, it was either after class on Monday or before class on Tuesday. But she had to make time to do this and not forget. If she didn’t, she would definitely not get that “A” grade in this course.

Hailee didn’t really want to start her homework tonight, and she didn’t want to head back to the dorm just yet. So she went over to the research archive machine and randomly looked at some topics. She thought that “Urban Legends” sounded interesting.

To get her in a focused mood, I pulled out a “focused” photo from her inventory and enabled emotional aura. And voilà, she was focused!

Tip: This “selfie” photo was previously taken when she was in a focused mood. I added a frame, and just enabled emotional aura for it. There are several other emotion photos in her inventory, like flirty, playful, etc. You can just drag the photo out of your sim’s inventory and set the photo on a table or on a wall, even on a community lot. No cheats needed.

This is what she found out when she researched Urban Legends. Can it be true? Collectibles? Or dessert? Make an offering to the statue? She had collectibles! Hmm…maybe she’ll give it a try on Monday before her classes. Hailee wondered if others knew about his or maybe it was all just make-believe. Well, she needed all the help she could get, so she would try it out.

Hailee also gets this moodlet from researching.

It’s been a long day and she has to get up for her part-time job tomorrow, so she heads back to the dorm. For some reason, her roomies are still up at 1:00 AM (Sunday). Ok, well, Hailee was heading to bed. Nitey-nite.

Author’s Notes:

For every research topic that your sim researches on the research archive machine, it will “unlock” a new debate topic. This comes in handy if you’re in the Debate Guild. Then when choosing a topic to debate, you can debate a topic that perhaps your challenger doesn’t know anything about. This could result in a surefire win for your sim.

If your sims have a Presentation to do, my advice is to tackle this early. The whole process from start to finish takes several sim hours. So, don’t wait until the last minute to do this, because your sim will run out of time, or will have to submit a poor Presentation. Practicing Presentation alone takes 1 sim hour. This does, however, boost the charisma skill. Your sim is further restricted on when this can be submitted and can only be done on weekdays between 8am – 4:30 pm, and not during the class it is due for. Ensure the Presentation board is in your sim’s inventory, and then click on “Give Final Presentation” and your sim will head to a building on campus and disappear in a “rabbit hole”. The final presentation takes 1 sim hour.

 

 

DAY 6:

6:35 am, Friday morning, Spring, UBrite Drake Hall, Cloudy

Even though Hailee went to bed late, she is up early. After greening up, she sees that the computer in the study room is free and snags it. She might as well work on editing that term paper while she has a chance.

And she is done! Hailee submits an outstanding paper. And just in time as she heads off to class. Oh my gosh, Hailee, don’t be late! Zoom…

While in class, she gets her royalty report. She also gets a call from Dinky Beats that they want her to make a new track. Didn’t she just make one? She’ll have to remember to do that later.

And once her classes are over, she gets the same notices that she has been getting.

With her classes done for the week, I have Hailee use her phone to e-mail her professors about her progress. I mean these notices are great, but how is she really doing?

She is doing exceptionally well in three of her four classes. But what does that mean? Is that a B or an A? She needs an A in all her courses for this challenge. She is doing “fine” in her How Culture Influences Society course, but she hasn’t started her presentation yet. She really needs to do that. Fine doesn’t sound like an “A” to me, so she better get working on that course.

She also takes a look at the organization events for today and she is looking forward to going to the Britechester Game Day Party and talking to some UBrite Spirit Corps members. Oh, and too bad, tomorrow morning there is a Debate Showdown, but she is at her part-time job. Well, maybe when she comes home, she’ll have time to attend the showdown event.

As she rides back to the dorm, she sees the UBrite statue has been yarn bombed. Oh my gosh! Who did that? She also notices that there are Foxbury banners on the UBrite stadium. Britechester and Foxbury certainly have a rivalry going on.

Hailee has school pride and decides to get off her bike and try to clean up the statue.

That took longer than she had thought. When she was done and was getting back on her bike, she thought she saw someone or something…hmmm…nah, probably just her imagination.

Over in a corner, she sees the Britechester Spirit Corps setting up. And there’s Darby the Dragon, the Britechester mascot. She decides to head over.

Oh, it’s not just Britechester here, it’s Foxbury, too. There’s the Foxbury mascot, Lobster Larry. Hailee is pretty excited to be there and she leads the Britechester cheer.

After that exciting cheer, one of the UBrite Spirit Corps’ members helps Hailee do a keg stand! Oh yes! She’s got this! Her Dad would be so proud! Hey Dad, look at me! Now, THIS was university life!

She chats some more with the UBrite Spirit Corps’ members and she tells them how she cleaned up the statue. They tell her that she is a shoo-in for their organization, especially with that awesome keg stand she did. And so, she….oh no…she didn’t…yep, she did.

Hailee, do you know what you have done? Hailee is now a member of 3 organizations and a new member of the Britechester Spirit Squad. Go Britechester!

Hailee is super excited about being a member of this organization and feels like she can conquer the world right now.

Hey but wait, she didn’t get a selfie with the Team Mascot. Hold up there, Darby the Dragon!

Author’s Notes: I have no idea why she autonomously changed into this outfit and then got on her bike, but she did.

After taking a selfie with Darby, Hailee heads to UBrite Commons. She is feeling very confident and sees Jean Lauer, her roomie, who was also a debate member. She challenges him to a debate. What? Hailee has no debate experience, nor has she ever stood in front of a podium before. Must be the  “keg juice” talking. Okay, Hailee, if you think so. She picks a debate topic of “Are Gnomes Cute or Creepy?”

And I can’t believe it myself, but Hailee wins her first debate! Go Hailee! She also completes the first three tasks for the Debate Guild. Yes!

Hailee arrives back at the dorms at 2am. Were her roomies having a party? Look at all that food…ugh…mostly spoiled food now.

Hailee is so hyped up, she can’t possibly go to sleep now. So, she decides to work on her presentation board. Until she realizes it’s almost 3am and she starts her part-time job in the morning. Oh my gosh! She needs to go to sleep! Zzzzz…

Author’s Notes:

The ghost that Hailee saw near the statue is Felix Psyded, (a pun on the world “feel excited”). He’s a pre-made ghost in the world, who founded the university and unfortunately died of laughter.

The Ultimate Student Challenge only requires your sim to be in one student organization, but, heck, Hailee is such a keener she joined all three. Let’s hope that joining those organizations has not hurt her chances of getting that “A” grade.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

DAY 5:

Morning, Thursday, Spring, Ubrite Drake Hall, Partly Cloudy & Cool

Well, the idea of sleeping in sounded like a good idea, but Hailee’s roommates had other ideas. At 6am, she woke up from the sound of Tia practicing the violin. I think Hailee put her pillow over her head, but it didn’t drown out the sound, so I had her get up.

She headed to the bathroom, and she did the same as yesterday, and locked both doors and enjoyed an inspirational shower alone.

Her classes today are back-to-back again from 1:30 pm until 4:25 pm. I take a look at the organization events for today and the Debate Guild Bar Night is tonight. Hailee should really try to make an appearance at that. Maybe once she greens up, she can start doing her homework for her classes tomorrow. That would certainly free up some time tonight.

And there’s an Art Society gathering by the canal. She could certainly chat with the members and maybe there was fishing nearby. Hailee hadn’t even had a chance to see if there were some things that she could collect or harvest on campus.

But first, she was going to head to UBrite Commons for breakfast.

I gave Hailee a bit of a wardrobe make-over. Doesn’t she look great sporting the Britechester colors of yellow and green?

There are two breakfast choices for today: pancakes or eggs and toast. Both free of course. And there’s the student she met in the library yesterday, Cameron Fletcher. It’s good to know that some other students have part-time jobs, too.

After breakfast, Hailee gets a head start on her homework for tomorrow. Everyone must have early classes today as it’s pretty quiet in UBrite Commons this morning.

She gets her royalty report. Those music tracks keep dropping, but her book increased again.

And she’s running off to class. Let’s hope it’s in the building closest to UBrite Commons. And thankfully, it is.

Hailee again gets these pop-ups after each class. I am hoping that this means she is doing well.

Umm…and Hailee autonomously decides to rummage in the garbage, but unfortunately doesn’t find anything. I have her head over to the UBrite kiosk and buy her a bike for $100 simoleons. It’s a great deal and even comes with a free helmet. Plus, by using it, she gets the fitness skill.

I remember that there is an Art Society meeting behind Ubrite Commons by the canal, so she gives her bike a test drive. Okay, not too far, and she still remembers how to ride a bike. But at the stairs, she has to get off and walk down to the painting area.

Hailee recognizes the sim from the Art Society Bar Night who is so pleased to see her. Hailee also chats with a rather cute guy who is a member. And so when they ask her if she wants to join…she….um…says yes.

Oh, my word! Hailee now belongs to two student organizations. Hailee, remember you weren’t going to join this one because of the cost factor? Oh right! It’s really for the free poster…and possibly for that cute guy. Ok, well, maybe, mostly for the cute guy. Hey, she’s got the poster and it’s worth $20 simoleons. Plus, she can quit anytime. Yes, she can!

Hailee looks around and spies a rose bush! Yes! Something she can harvest. Finally! And she was right…there is fishing here, too.

While she waits for The Debate Society‘s Bar Night, Hailee decides to do a bit of fishing. She is not having much luck and catches something rather interesting…just not the fish she was hoping for.

Hailee is ready to head out anyway, and she travels to Pepper’s Pub with some of her roomies. She sees that one of her roomies, Jean Lauer, is part of the Debate Society, too. And he’s wearing his debate shirt. It’s a good thing that Hailee packed hers, and she heads into the restroom to change her clothes.

Hailee heads upstairs where there is a ping pong table set up, and Jean challenges her to a juice pong contest. Juice pong? Oh, she’s heard about this. She sees one of the new roomies from this morning. Her name is Monica Fournier and it looks like she joined the Debate Society as well.

Hailee accepts the challenge and asks Monica to be part of her team. Jean chooses Ritvik to be on his team.

So the goal of this game is to get a ping pong ball in one of the opposition team’s cups filled with “juice”. If it goes in, an opposing team member has to “drink the juice.” The team with the most cups left wins the game.

Hailee has the first shot and it goes straight in the cup! Wow! First time she’s ever played this and she gets the first ball in!

Drink the Ju—uice! And one point for Hailee’s team.

It’s Monica’s turn and she bounces the ping pong ball right into the cup. Yes! Jean goes next and gets a ping pong ball in their cup.

Hailee downs the juice.

It’s now down to two cups on the ping pong table and it’s Monica’s turn again, and she gets it in the cup. What technique! What style! What a teammate!

Ritvik tries his hand and misses completely.

It’s now up to Hailee to win the game, and with a little flick of her wrist, the ping pong ball goes into the other team’s cup. Woot! Hailee and Monica win the game!

Hailee chats a bit with Monica and finds out she is studying Economics. Hailee discovers that Monica has the bro and outgoing traits (she doesn’t know the third trait yet). It’s already midnight, and the Debate Society Bar Night ends. Hailee is too pumped to head to bed and decides to travel to the library.

Monica thought that was a good idea, too, and they both head to Lauer Library to work on their homework together.

It is now 1:12am (Friday), and Hailee has finally finished her homework and calls it a night. She has another day of classes ahead of her.

They travel back to the dorms together and Hailee tapes up another poster before she goes to bed. Her dorm room is looking pretty snazzy.

Author’s Note:

I created an outfit for Hailee with the new Debate Society t-shirt, although I am thinking of changing it a bit. That way, when she is at a Debate Society event, she can just change into that outfit. I am not sure she’s going to stay in the Art Society organization, because she has no painting skills and really can’t afford to. But maybe if she takes an elective in painting next term, it may come in handy. But the poster is nice.

DAY 4:

7am, Wednesday, Spring, UBrite Drake Hall, Sunny and Cool

With barely any sleep, Hailee gets up and starts to get ready for her first class, which starts at 9:30am. And it’s official, it’s the start of term.

There’s no-one in the bathroom, so I have Hailee head in and lock both doors. You’re probably wondering why I would have her do that. Well, for one, I don’t want any sim walking in on her and then she gets the embarrassed moodlet for goodness knows how long. And two, heaven forbid, she could die of embarrassment. That wouldn’t go over too well on her first day of term now, would it? So, go ahead Hailee, take a nice, long uninterrupted inspirational shower. She is still pretty tired after she’s finished, but at least her hygiene is in good shape. She also heads into a toilet stall.

Hailee doesn’t really have time to head to UBrite Commons for breakfast, and thankfully another student made some pasta primavera. Which roomie is making all this food? And how? Do they have an Easy-Bake Oven in their room? She grabs a plate and heads toward the study area to sit down to eat.

There are two new students who have moved into the dorm, but Hailee doesn’t really have a chance to get to know them. Once she is done eating, I have her head in front of the building where I think her class might be.

While she is waiting for class to start, Hailee autonomously starts her homework for another class. What a great student she is! And the countdown to go to class begins … 3-2-1 minutes left. Go! Go to class Hailee!

And thank goodness, she goes to class on time. She had me worried there. It wouldn’t look too good if she was late for her very first class.

While she is in class, I have her “Listen Attentively” and “Take Notes”. I’m tempted to have her “Sleep in Class” because her energy needs are yellow, but I don’t think that would be a good thing.

In between classes, she appears for a moment and then vanishes and goes to her second class. Glad it was in the same building because she only has 5 minutes between those two classes.

She gets her royalty report while she is in class, and her new music track Sul Sul brings in $27 simoleons while When Sims Cry keeps dropping. Surprisingly, her book has increased.

She gets this pop-up after she finishes each class. Great job Hailee!

I take a look at her Schedule of Events for the Debate Guild and at 4pm there is Debate Practice. We’ll see how things go, but she really has to do her homework for her two classes that start tomorrow. How is she going to fit everything in? She still hasn’t started her term paper or presentation. In fact, her presentation board is still in her inventory.

After class, she meets one of her classmates, Becca Clarke (Best of Friends Household) and they chat a bit. Becca is studying Language and Literature. Hailee is really tired, so I have her head back to the dorm to take a nap.

Once she has greened up a bit, I have her travel to Lauer Library with a few roommates. They all work on their homework together.

She gets to know one of her roomies a bit better, Liberty Andrew, who is studying Drama.

Hailee just finished her homework for both courses, when a Foxbury student named Cameron Fletcher sits beside her. He is taking Computer Science and they talk about project ideas.

This reminds me that while Hailee is in the library, she should try to do some research on the research archive machine. It is also a task that she needs to complete for the Debate Guild (Research Any Topic). There are various research topics to choose from and I choose “Good Writing Through Feedback.”

Once Hailee has finished researching that topic, I have her head to the computer and start her term paper for her Evidence in Debate Prep course. It is now 9pm. It looks like this might be another long night. And, as predicted, she didn’t make it to the Debate Guild‘s debate practice session.

She has finished a draft of her term paper. But is it any good? On the computer, when you hover over the “Submit term paper” for that course, it will show you the quality of the paper. Right now, it’s poor quality, so she’ll need to edit it.

There is also another option to “Submit a plagiarized paper”, but, hey, that’s a definite no-no and might get her a failing grade or worse, suspension from uni.

Well, editing that term paper will have to wait. It’s late and Hailee is tired and her needs are red. She does the pee-pee dance towards the restroom, passing the librarian on her way.

Back at the dorm, she grabs a plate of food that someone made while she watches the news. Yes! Another task completed for the Debate Guild.

It’s 2:38 am (Thursday) when she heads to bed, but thankfully her class isn’t until 1:30 pm. Maybe she’ll be able to sleep in a bit. Right! ZZZzzzzz

Her skills at the end of the day. She has $2,070 simoleons. She really has to start looking for some collectibles on campus to get some simoleons. As for frog breeding, unfortunately, when a sim is in class, you can’t access the inventory to breed frogs. Maybe I will have Hailee head to the University kiosk tomorrow and see what she can buy.

Courses & Skills

When you look at the classes, under the title of each course, there is a skill listed that you need to work on for that course. So, for the Communication Basics and How Culture Influences Society courses, Hailee needs to work on charisma; for the Sourcing Data-Intro to Journalism she needs the writing skill, and for Evidence in Debate Prep she needs the research and debate skill. There are various ways she can do this. By actually doing the skill or reading a skill book.

There is also a new way, “Sit in on Skill Class”. These are available 9am – 9pm (which cost $250 simoleons) and you can enroll through your phone or click on the UBrite building where it is being held and this choice pops up. There is also “Attend Guest Lecture”, available from 5pm – 7pm, needed for the new Academic Aspiration, (which costs $40 simoleons). You can also buy the university coursebook for your degree at the University kiosk, which costs $700 simoleons (Yikes!).

Homework takes a few hours but if your sim has a higher level of the new research and debate skill they will finish their homework quicker.

The best place to study and do homework is Laurel Library, as it has the new lot trait of “Study Spot”, which helps students do their homework faster, get less tired from studying and build a bit of skill.

Of course, if you have the Get Together expansion pack, you can create a club to boost some of these skills more.

DAY 3 – PM:

Tuesday afternoon, Spring, UBrite Commons, Sunny and Cool

After a satisfying lunch, especially since it was free, Hailee decided to get a head start on her homework. Term 1 hadn’t started yet, but her first two back-to-back classes were tomorrow. So, she starts homework for Communication Basics.

Another rule for this challenge is that Hailee has to be part of an organization. On her phone, there is a social group icon (beside the needs icon), and it lists the organizations and if they are having any events. (You can also click on the University Kiosk outside of UBrite Commons for organization events). I pull this up and see that The Debate Guild has a Debate Practice at UBrite Commons in 3 hours and the Art Society has a Bar Night in 7 hours. The Britechester Spirit Corps doesn’t have something until Friday. Hailee is going to hang around and see what the Debate Guild is all about. Plus, if she joins this organization, it will help with her research and debate skills.

Hailee finishes her homework for her first course just in time. There are two members of the Debate Society debating each other. It’s Zoe Patel (from The Roomies household in Oasis Springs) vs Vivian Lews (From the Kim-Lewis household in Willow Creek). These two must be senior members. Their green shirt is different from the yellow shirts some other debate members are wearing. Maybe there are different ranks in the organization designated by the shirt color.

Hailee chats with members of the Debate Society and I have her join that organization.

Plus she gets a new t-shirt and a poster as a gift. Heck, she should just join all the organizations to get those gifts so she can sell them…err, I mean…cherish them forever.

Oh, and as if Hailee didn’t have enough to do with her full course load, homework, a term paper, a presentation, studying for finals, and working a part-time job, there are things you have to do in The Debate Guild, too! Oh my gosh!

Well, the Debate Society debate practice ends at 8pm, so Hailee travels with a few of her roomies to Pepper’s Pub for the Art Society pub night. It goes until midnight, but Hailee really can’t stay until the end because she still has homework to do in Sourcing Data – Intro to Journalism. Plus, she doesn’t really want to spend simoleons on drinks, but she does head to the bar to get some free chips.

One of the Art Society members comes over and greets her. They chat about inspiring things and Hailee learns that the Art Society paints figure painting with a live model. Hailee also learns that she would have to pay for her own art supplies, which would be $100 simoleons per figure painting. Hmmm…Hailee is going to think about this one, but the art supply cost may be a deterrent.

On her way out, Hailee sees Judith Ward. Now if only she could get an autograph, it might be worth something, and then maybe she could join the Art Society, too. Should she ask? Maybe Hailee will be lucky this time. Ugh, but no, Judith seems to be in a bad mood and dismisses Hailee with a wave of her hand.

Hailee is about to head to Laurel Library when she gets a message from the Dinky Beats label reminding her that she needs to release a new track, or they will drop her. Maybe she just shouldn’t bother with that.

But no, she heads over to Del Sol Valley and releases another track. Hey, it’s all about those royalties. Maybe “Sul Sul” will be worth more.

As she is coming out of the Pumbobs Pictures Museum, she sees celebrity Dirk Dreamer. Maybe this time, she’ll get that autograph. Um, not.

But wait, another celebrity, Octavia Moon is walking towards her. Maybe Octavia read her children’s book and wants to wish her luck at the Starlight Accolade Awards. Hailee is hopeful. I am hopeful. Maybe, maybe this time she’ll get that autograph. But it’s another no. Geez! What is up with all these celebrities not giving autographs? Ok, enough time wasted here. Hailee has to finish that homework.

Laurel Library is deserted when she gets there and she does her homework in record time.

Hailee makes it back to the dorm and she is pretty exhausted. She tapes up her debate poster on the wall before she heads to bed. It’s now 4am and her class starts in 5-1/2 hours! Maybe she shouldn’t have gone to the Art Society pub night, or made a music track in Del Sol Valley…or…ZZZzzzzzz.

Student Organizations

A student can join up to three organizations. Since Hailee belongs to the Debate Guild, here are some interesting tidbits on why a sim would want to rank up in that organization. If she gets to Rank 2, it will give her extra credit in Communications, which she’s in. And at Rank 3 she has the ability to convince a professor to increase her grade…but Hailee would never do that! Would she? It sounds like this was a good organization to join.

I did a test in another save to see if a Britechester student could sign up for Foxbury organizations, but unfortunately, they can’t. If I had been able to, I would have also signed her up for the Brainiacs Organization, but, again, only reserved for Foxbury students.

DAY 3 – AM:

Tuesday morning, Spring, San Myshuno, Cool

With a good night’s napping and a bath, Hailee is in good spirits. She grabs a peanut butter and jelly sandwich and uses her phone to enroll in uni.

The first screen gives a choice of which university you want your sim to attend and Hailee chooses the University of Britechester. There is also a list of the Student Organizations for each university. They all sound so interesting.

Next, she has to choose her degree and courses. (White degree options are open for enrollment, but the greyed out degrees are not). Since she was accepted into a Distinguished Degree for Communications, she’s going to go with that. I mean, seriously, why wouldn’t she?

Now, according to the challenge rules, Hailee must enroll in four courses. This could be a total of 4  Core Classes, OR 3 Core Classes and 1 Elective Class. All of the courses count towards the 12 classes needed to graduate. The Core Courses are automatically chosen, but you do have a choice for the Elective. I choose the Evidence in Debate Prep for her, which uses the new Research and Debate Skill. This may have been a mistake and perhaps I should have chosen Advanced Shower Singing instead. Well, too late now.

Next, is Housing, and according to the rules she has to live on campus. There are three choices, Drake Hall at $331 simoleons per term; Wyvern Hall at $341 simoleons per term or Darkwing House at $593 simoleons per term. Well, Darkwing House is more than her scholarship, so we eliminate that one. With Wyvern Hall, it is home to the Best of Friends household (if you choose this, you will be controlling two other sims, Julia Wright & Becca Clarke, in addition to your sim) and costs $10 simoleons more than Drake Hall. I think it will be hard enough just controlling Hailee! Plus, Hailee is on a budget, so she chooses Drake Hall. The number of beds is 10, so she’ll be sharing with 9 other students. This should be interesting.

And the final tuition total. Ugh! Her Scholarship doesn’t quite cover everything, and she certainly doesn’t have enough in household funds, so she gets the dreaded student loan. I mean she can survive on Ramen noodles for 3 terms, right?

And with that, she clicks the button and is automatically whisked off to the beautiful campus of the University of Britechester. Congratulations, Hailee!

She is transported directly to the Drake Hall dorms. It’s co-ed and as she gets off the elevator, she trips on the fraying carpet. Drake Hall is a bit worn-in, but she likes the shabby-chic look.

She hears some voices and decides to look around. There are some other students settling in who have already claimed their rooms. There are a total of 5 dorm rooms.

She heads to the room to the left of the elevator.

What? She has to share a room with another sim? A sim she doesn’t even know! And what about privacy? And her stuff? What if she gets a klepto roommate who takes her stuff. What are you saying? Yes, she has stuff. Not a lot of stuff, but stuff. Hmmmpf!

This room looked rather nice, was close to the elevators, but it was already occupied by two students.

Next door to them was another room occupied by one student already. The room is opposite the main bathroom. Hailee eyes the ketchup and mustard on his desk. The guy must like condiments.

The bed seems to be unoccupied, even though another student is doing homework in here. Hailee likes the poster and she would be sharing with a rather hunky roommate. She’ll think about this one but wants to look around some more.

Hailee peaks in the bathroom and there are some sinks, three toilet stalls, and two showers. Oh no! Open showers! What? Where’s the shower curtain? She’s supposed to shower in a co-ed dorm in a shower with no shower curtain? No way! She will definitely be locking those bathroom doors when she’s in here!

At the back left is another room, both beds unoccupied. The layout is a bit more private, and the green bed has two window views.

There’s a Britechester flag on the wall, and a bonus mirror in here, too. Hailee likes this room.

Across from this room is a pass-through study area. A table with four chairs and one rather old computer. Is there a schedule set-up for computer use or is it just first-come, first-served? What if she has some big term paper she needs to write? There must be more computers elsewhere because she certainly can’t afford one herself.

At the right-back is another dorm room and both beds are unoccupied.

Next to this, across from the bathroom, is a student recreation room with a tv, a boom box (in a corner), and a game table.

The last room is at the front right near the elevators, and it is already occupied by one student.

It looks like a nice room and this bed is available. Hmmm…which room to choose? The elevator doors open and some more students come out. She better choose a room quickly before they’re all taken and she has to sleep on the couch.

I wait for Hailee to autonomously choose a bed, but she doesn’t, so I make the executive decision for her. Weighing the pros and cons of each room, I think that the best room for her is the back left room with the green bed and mirror. It’s away from the elevator and the recreation room, which will both be quite busy with students coming and going, but close to the bathroom and study room. Plus, she can sneak a peek every once in a while to see if the computer is available to use.

On the way to her room, she meets her roommate, Candice Maurer, an adult who is studying Computer Science. Hailee learns that Candice has the perfectionist, hot-headed and family-oriented traits. Not bad for a roomie and Hailee was glad that Candice didn’t have the klepto trait. Candice becomes Hailee’s first friend.

Hailee has now done a whole loop around the dorm, but there is one thing missing. Where’s the kitchen? There’s not even a microwave or fridge or even vending machines here. And no bar-b-q outside on the balcony. Where’s the food?

She must have looked a little freaked out, because the student she had seen earlier, came over to greet her. His name was Ritvik Kumar and he is studying Art History. He was heading to Darby’s Den, better known as Ubrite Commons, for a bite to eat and wondered if she wanted to join him. Hailee was trying to figure out if she had enough simoleons for lunch, when Ritvik told her that the food was FREE to students on campus. Free food? Say no more! Lead the way! She also invites her roommate along.

They are early and the cafeteria isn’t open yet. So, I have a look at Hailee’s schedule.

According to the rules, she has to get a part-time job (not an odd job), but some part-time jobs conflict with her class schedule. A weekend job might be the best. So, I have her sign up for a manual laborer job as a Lawn Mower. Saturday and Sunday from 7am – noon making $45/hour should net her $450 for two days.

With that done, Hailee chats with Candice and Ritvik. Another student sits down beside her. It’s Julia Wright (Best of Friends Household), and she lives at the Wyvern Hall dorms and is studying Physics. Professor Thomas Jabari stops to chat with them, and Hailee finds out that there are some computers at Laurel Library atop Gibbs Hill (the main uni town).

The cafeteria opens at noon and the offerings today — all free — are fish tacos, tuna casserole or rice and bean burrito. Hailee opts for the burrito and it never tasted so good! University life is starting off great!

Uni Food Facts

Stoves and grills are forbidden in dorms, but microwaves and cafeteria stations are not. However, while a student is living in a dorm, you cannot edit the dorm without using cheat codes.

Students at UBrite get free food at the UBrite Commons (opens at 7am; noon and 5pm); however, if a UBrite student goes to the Foxbury Commons to eat, they have to pay. Other students in the dorms are always making lobster thermidor and other types of food, so your sim won’t starve. You can also “grab chips” at Pepper’s Pub on campus for free.

You can order pizza in the dorm, but, of course, it costs simoleons. There are food kiosks around the campus, with beverages and food for sale. You can also buy a Hand-Me Down Mini Fridge for $250 simoleons at the University Kiosk (outside of UBrite Commons), to keep in your dorm room or inventory for free quick meals. Also purchasing a Wavescatter microwave for $240 simoleons will add the option of making quick meals such as pizza rolls, breakfast burritos, and noodles.

DAY 2:

After midnight, Monday, Spring, Newcrest, Cold

After submitting her uni application, I have Hailee collect around her neighborhood. I spot some frogs. We need two to start breeding them. This will continue to be a source of income for Hailee when she is at uni. She collects two frogs, but refuses to do anything else. Her needs are in the red. She needs to sleep and she desperately needs a shower.

It’s 3:30 am. I have her travel to Myshuno Meadows in San Myshuno. There is a reception hall there that has everything she needs. Plus on the second floor, there’s a red couch in front of a fireplace. It’s a Captain Rodrigo De Pablo couch, and it’s comfort level 8. What a great place to take a nap or two or three.

After napping, using the restroom and having a quick meal of a ham and cheese sandwich, she’s ready to go again. She also gets her royalty report. Um, 4 hours spent writing a book for $5 simoleons in royalties? And this book is up for an award? Okay, some sim must like it. And her song royalties dropped. Oh boo hoo on that one.

I have her head to the backyard observatory across from the reception hall to try to get a space print; however, I end her observing after two hours because it seems to be taking a long time. So, unfortunately, no print. Hailee does get some logic skill, though.

How did it get so late already? Hailee finds several snow globes – Freezer bunny snow globe worth $15 simoleons, The city bridge snow globe worth $10 simoleons, Emily snow globe worth $15 simoleons, and The Magnolia Steamboat snow globe worth $15 simoleons.

And some posters – 2 Freezer Bunny Falls posters worth $65 simoleons each.

She does a bit of fishing and catches a goldfish worth $7 simoleons. I was going to have her keep little “goldie” as a pet, but you can’t put a fishbowl in your personal inventory.

It’s almost midnight and I have Hailee check her uni application status on her phone and it looks like the application is still in progress.

Oh gosh! Maybe she won’t get in! Or maybe she has to wait another day.

DAY 3:

After midnight, Tuesday, San Myshuno, cool and windy

But then at 12:36 am, I see two letters arrive in her inventory. It’s the scholarship results letters! Crossing my fingers, I have her open them.

The first one is for the Newcrest Resident scholarship and she’s – DENIED! What? Is there another secret sim living in Newcrest because as far as I know, Hailee is the only one living there. I thought for sure she’d get this one. Oh well.

I have her open the next letter and thank goodness she gets the Education for All scholarship valued at $500 simoleons! Because let’s face it, Hailee is broke.

She gets the Sizeable Scholarship moodlet that gives her the confident vibe. She also does a happy dance. Go Hailee!

I have her continue to collect and she gets more frogs and I also breed the ones in her inventory (you can breed frogs every 4 hours). And then I see it. Yes! Yes! Yes! The University Acceptance Letter. The one she’s been waiting for! Her needs are so red right now, but I have her open the letter anyway.

She’s been accepted to both Britechester and Foxbury! Look at all the degree choices she can choose from. I continue to scroll down the page.

The red letters of the “Not Accepted” under Foxbury stand out. Okay, so she wasn’t accepted to Foxbury Institute for a Distinguished Degree. But, wait! Am I seeing this right? Hailee has been accepted to a Distinguished Degree program in Communications at Britechester! Maybe it was writing that book, or maybe it was making that track that helped, but whatever it was, she’s in! She’s going to Britechester!

She’s so thrilled, she passes out from the excitement…or maybe it’s from the exhaustion. Oops! I may have worked her a bit too hard. Even though it doesn’t look like it, she’s happy. Yep, she’s happy on the inside because she gets the Distinguished! moodlet and a confident vibe from getting into a distinguished degree program.

I have her head back to the reception hall for a well-deserved rest. In the morning, she will enroll in her classes. Here’s her list of skills at the end of the day.

Author’s Notes:

I was extremely happy that she got accepted in a Distinguished Degree program. If your sim applies and doesn’t get this, they get the Undistinguished! moodlet and a sad vibe. Your sim can re-apply to uni after gaining more skills to get into a Distinguished Degree, but they would have to pay another $75 simoleons to do this.

Apparently, there is a Merit Scholarship you can apply for if you are accepted into a distinguished degree, but she would probably have to wait another day to find out the results. So, hopefully, she can apply for this in Term 2. You can apply for scholarships anytime before you actually enroll for university.

I have no idea how Resident Scholarships work. I purposely picked a town without any other residents in it and she still didn’t get that one. I know you can have multiple scholarships, so that can’t be it. But it’s kind of weird. There are all different types of scholarships available, and if your sim is eligible for them, they appear when you apply for scholarships. You can also apply each term. There is a great list on Carl’s Guide of the actual scholarships, like an Athletic Scholarship if you have a level 3 in Fitness.

As an experiment, in another save, I had her get several skills up to level 3 or whatever was needed for the scholarship requirements, and when she applied for scholarships, look at this impressive list! If your sim gets enough scholarships to pay the tuition in full, they get a Full Ride moodlet which gives them a happy vibe for 24 hours.

So, the best thing to do is gain some skills, apply for uni, wait for the response, THEN apply for the scholarships. This would, of course, mean that it would take longer, but your sim may get more scholarship simoleons.
